World-famous RAF team The Red Arrows are set the thrill crowds at Swansea’s Wales Airshow this summer.
They’re the first big name to be confirmed for the two-day spectacular due to take place over the stunning sands of Swansea Bay on July 6 and 7. The annual show is being organised once again by Swansea Council.
The Red Arrows are due to attend on the Saturday – and there’ll be many other stars of the skies and a wide range of family fun on the ground throughout the big weekend, including displays, virtual reality experiences and live music.
Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “We’re delighted that The Red Arrows will be flying over Swansea again this summer. They’re a huge draw and help illustrate why our armed forces are so important.
“It’s amazing to have the Red Arrows back again, especially in this their 60th anniversary year when they have a busy schedule including a five-week international summer tour. They love coming to Swansea!”
“The Wales Airshow will be a fantastic weekend for the whole area. As the city’s reputation grows as a top-class venue for big events, this show is a great partner for others such as the IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea and World Triathlon Para Series Swansea.”
This summer’s highlights will also include chart-topping UK singer/songwriter James Arthur, dance spectacular Classic Ibiza and pop special Let’s Rock Wales playing Singleton Park.
Last summer’s Wales Airshow was a huge success. Attractions included the Red Arrows, the RAF Typhoon, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and Team Raven.
Cllr Francis-Davies said: “The Airshow contributes millions of pounds to Swansea’s local businesses and our local economy. Among the stars of the show are the tens of thousands of people who enjoy a day out or a weekend in Swansea. The family atmosphere they help generate results in a great weekend.”
